Two years before coming to Dr. Petty, Jill Plunkett, from Amory, Mississippi, was playing soccer with her 12 year old son and inadvertently did the forward splits when she kicked the ball. Her left hamstring hurt and she saw a doctor two days later who diagnosed a hamstring strain and prescribed physical therapy. Over time, her injury kept getting worse and she saw a second doctor about 18 months later who diagnosed a complete hamstring avulsion (tear) based on an MRI. The doctor told her nothing could be done because it had been too long since the injury. At that point, Jill was having difficulty walking up the slight incline at the entrance to work and the almost constant pain was getting more severe week by week.
